Yay, of the 50 or so varieties of trop lily starts put out early, it was of all things one of the wimpier growing varieties to show a bud first, Nymphaea Midnight.
Not one to be obvious as a quick growing variety, perhaps the head start it had indoors over winter gave it something of an edge, going from a start detached from the tuber to leafed up with its first bud in two weeks on a dinky little three inch pot with just plain old fertile dirt to start it up
Goes up there with Pink Leopardess as starting up rather well in a volatile climate. Now, if only it can be persuaded to pound out tubers a l'il better...
