A steady cool Spring seems to be preferred by Nymphaea candida, a species hardy waterlily from Europe and Asia. This year it popped when tried in three new semi shade positions where waters have typically been 70°f. It will be no surprise if they become shy to bloom when waters whistle through the 80's, which seems to be its limit. A tough little plant, which has coped with bone dry drought and temperatures whistling over 100°f This year, what looks like a miniature form has popped up with flowers barely an inch and a bit wide, a bit smaller than the usual 4" wide bloom Regards, andy - http://www.flickr.com/photos/21940871@N06/ - http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l42/adavisus/ - search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ50QQsassZadavisus
