A steady cool Spring seems to be preferred by Nymphaea candida, a species hardy waterlily from Europe and Asia.
This year it popped when tried in three new semi shade positions where waters have typically been 70°f. It will be no surprise if they become shy to bloom when waters whistle through the 80's, which seems to be its limit.
A tough little plant, which has coped with bone dry drought and temperatures whistling over 100°f
This year, what looks like a miniature form has popped up with flowers barely an inch and a bit wide, a bit smaller than the usual 4" wide bloom
